Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The paper presents preliminary results of a research study which focused on a sample of Czech university students (future teachers) to identify their degree of addictive behaviour in relation to playing computer games. Problem Statement: Currently, everyday use of ICT is a necessity for university students, even in their free time. Unfortunately, students often play computer games and show signs of addictive behaviour. Research Questions: What is the degree of addictive behaviour among university students in relation to playing computer games? Are there typical groups of university students by their addictive behaviour? Purpose of the Study: The paper aims to identify the risks posed by the increasing use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in everyday life of university students. Specifically, the paper focuses on the negatives associated with playing computer games. Research Methods: In the research the authors will use a quantitative research strategy with their own questionnaire to identify the degree of addictive behaviour in university students in relation to computer games. The data collected from the questionnaire will be subject to statistical processing using a Generalized cluster analysis. Findings: Possible groups of university students will be identified according to their addictive behaviour. Conclusions: The research focused on the risks posed by computer games in a sample of university students from the Faculty of Education, Palacký University Olomouc (CZ). A typology of university students was formulated according to computer game addiction.
