Vision is, based on available researches, responsible for access to 70 to 85% information from surroundings. Severe visual impairment is the reason for the loss of or significant limitation to visual access to information. This diagnosis causes negative consequences in most life situation of persons who have it. These consequences can be connected not only to traditional areas such as self-care, access to information, communication, but also to everyday life situations such as independent orientation, self-sufficiency or spacial orientation associated with activities like walking to school or to work, shopping, hobbies etc. In the chapter, we, regarding the previous information, will be dealing with issue of persons with severe visual impairment and their independent movement, self-sufficiency and spacial orientation from the traditional point of view and also with respect to the newest technologies and the use of ICT. Concerning the spacial orientation and its training we will introduce new technologies such as tactile maps printing. The chapter will consist of following theoretical parts: visual impairments, severe visual impairment, the area of independent movement and spacial orientation, practical skills, all of them in context of the newest technologies and practices. The theoretical parts of the chapter will be complemented by practical part, based on the practical experiences of one of the authors who is working as a visual therapist. In this part we will depict three case studies of persons with severe visual impairment with emphasis on specifics of their visual impairment, possibilities of the use of concrete ICT, description of the aid selection process and the training of their use.
