Ota Filip, ein Schriftsteller, der sich als einen böhmisch-mährischen Schriftsteller, der in Bayern lebt und auch Deutsch schreibt, bezeichnete, starb am 2. März 2018 in Murnau am Staffelsee in Oberbayern. In diesem Vortrag möchte ich mich mit dem Werk der schaffenden Persönlichkeit von Ota Filip im Kontext der tschechischen und der deutschen, bzw. europäischen Literatur und Kultur befassen. Sein Prosawerk – Filip schrieb vor allem Romane – trägt oft autobiographische Züge oder man könnte die Romane als literarische Autobiographien betrachten. Er war sein ganzes Berufsleben lang als Publizist tätig und veröffentlichte einige Sammelbände mit Reportagen, Feuilletons und kurze Geschichten, die er oft in seinen Prosawerken thematisierte und sogar zitierte.

Ota Filip (1930-2018) was a Czech-German author who lived in Germany from 1974.The Second World War, Sudeten Germans’ resettlement and the exile are the topics which he worked on both in his prose and journalism. His novels are published in Germany and the Czech Republic where they have enthusiastic readers as well as severe critics. Most of Filip’s novels include some autobiographical features. His literary heroes or more likely anti-heroes experience conflicts with both the social-national and communist regimes, their “small” personal stories are influenced by great historical events. Ota Filip was respected as a mediator between the Czech and German cultures on both sides of the Czech-German border.
