How Future Teachers Support the Development of Reading Literacy.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The aim of the research is to find out the significance of working with texts of factual communication at the primary school in the context of reading literacy and relation to the reading. In fact, the majority of Czech educators prefer activities which require simpler reading skills in their lessons – e.g. information search, finding out the main thought of the text, etc. – while they tend to use a battery of texts presented in reading-books which are, however, not meant to develop more complex comprehension methods. Therefore, it would be appropriate to include texts of factual communication more often not only into the Czech language lessons, hence facilitating the reading development in other subjects as well; additionally, those texts should be taken from factual texts, not only from textbooks. While teaching future teachers, I came across the fact that many of my students do not know and are not able to use RWCT methods (critical thinking methods), skimming and scanning which facilitate the development of reading literacy. This is the reason why we included those methods in our research and why I deal with this analysis which presents students reading books, comments on the use of various methods and informs about the frequently chosen authors and titles.
