This research is a part of an international research concerning the construction of scales to measure perceived competence in children with cerebral palsy. The main purpose of this part of the research is to devise a Czech version of The Pictorial Scaleof Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance for Young Children with Cerebral Palsy and to investigate its reliability and validity. The Czech version of The Scale is a product of two years of research work and was administered to a Czech sample. Thisscale was developed to assess the child's perception of cognitive, physical and social competencies. Eighty-five children with cerebral palsy, selected from rehabilitation, medical and educational institutions in the Czech Republic were tested twice. Ba sed on the test-retest reliability and Cronbach's Alpha, the Czech translation and application of The Pictorial Scale could be considered as a reliable instrument.
