The main objective of the research was to analyse the relations between the level, structure and character of one-week's physical activity in girls and boys from 9th classes of elementary schools and 1st grade of secondary schools and to define the principal determinants for positive changes in their lifestyle. A total of 86 girls and 84 boys from 9th classes of elementary schools and 1st grade of secondary schools took part in the survey. The standardised method of monitoring the size and level of realised weekly physical activity is based on the measurement of energy expenditure with Caltrac accelerometer and Omron pedometer. There are not differences in the level, structure and character of one-week's physical activity between girls from 9th classes of elementary schools and girls from 1st grade of secondary schools. Boys from 1st grade of secondary schools are expressively less active than boys from 9th classes of elementary schools. Schools, sport clubs and other organisations ha
