The main goal of this cross-section study is to ascertain the volume of physical education (PE) lessons and organized physical activities (PA) of girls in their one-week habitual school routine and to express it by the mean of the duration of these activities and the active energy expenditure (AEE - kcal/kg/day) which resulted therefrom. Next, to ascertain the relationship between the PE physical activity, (resp. organized PA), walking, and the age of the observed girls. A total of 322 girls aged 11-19,observed continuously for seven days during Spring and Autumn of 2000-2002 were chosen for analysis. Monitoring of PA is based on assessment of AEE with the Caltrac accelerometer, of steps and skips by the Omron pedometer, and assessment of the type andtime of duration of these activities based on individual records.
