This study is aimed at children and adolescents' participation in vigorous physical activity (PA) with an investigation of electronic media usage time by gender and school type in the Czech Republic. Participants were 3032 boys and girls from seven regions of the Czech Republic. Four types of schools (urban primary school, rural primary school, secondary grammar school and apprentice school) were randomly selected in every region. A questionnaire titled "Cross-cultural determinants of exercise participation" (Rehor, Centre for Human Movement, University of Tasmania; Sallis, Zakarian, Hovell, & Hofstetter, 1996) was applied in this study. Boys participated in vigorous PA more than girls in all types of schools. The highest amount of time in vigorous PAwas found in both boys and girls of urban primary schools.
