Somatic characteristics of current male and female students studying the Physical Education at various types of University in the Czech Republic

The submitted study deals with the topical somatic condition of men and female students studying the fields of study combined with the physical education at the university. The group of research consisted of men and female students in the first grades offields of study combined with the physical education studying at Faculty of Education (Ostrava University), Faculty of Physical Culture (Palacký University, Olomouc) and University of Defence (Brno). In the students there were measured the basic anthropometric parameters and there was determined the somatotype by Heath?Carter method (1967, In: Riegerová, Přidalová, Ulbrichová, 2006) and the body composition by bioelectric impedance method (BIA) ? per TANITA BC 418 tetrapolar bioelectrical impedance weigh. The results showed that in the basic anthropometric parameters our monitored male and female students do not differ from the population tested within the Czechoslovak gymnasts´ rally in the year 1985 (Bláha et al., 1986).
