The differences of the agricultural structure of bulgaria and romania

The article deals with the impact of Bulgaria's and Romania's accession on the farm structure and on the total figure of the EU farmers.The agricultural sector is very important for these newly entering countries. In Romania 32 % of the civilian workingpopulation is active in agriculture and in Bulgaria it is 10,7 %. This means that a huge part of the inhabitants is dependent on this sector. This is also proven by the share of agriculture on the total GDP, which is 12,2 % in Romania and 8,2 % in Bulgaria. Compared to the EU (0,9%) this number is more than 10 times higher.Small farms are very important for the farming sector in these countries and the total number is close to total amount in the EU. This situation contrasts with trends in the EU whichleads to consolidation and concentration.
