Social networks are one of the latest and fastest growing phenomena on the Internet. The paper focuses on application of systems approach, an important problem solving approach for many disciplines, to social network domain which is an interdisciplinarybranch with tendencies of specialization. Application of systems thinking serves a constructive role to serious work toward understanding various types of systems and their dynamics and as well as facilitates design of the structure and behavior of social systems. In order to apply the systems view, the system must be identified on a real network and essential system properties must be defined. Subsequently, the methods of systems analysis can be used in order to solve particular problems related to social networks. Systems analysis is presented as a procedure that applies systems approach to real systems in order to understand their structure, behavior and objectives.
