Analysis of sport performance of horses in the Czech Republic based on show jumping competitions

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The article deals with the performance ratings of show jumping horses participating in competitions held in Czech Republic, taking into consideration factors such as breed, sex, age and coat color. Data used in the research has been gathered from the official website of the Czech Equestrian Federation (CJF), covering years 2010 and 2016. Statistic evaluation of individual horses has been performed by means of auxiliary points in accordance with the methodology of CJF. The analysis shows that breed, age, sex and year of start statistically have highly significant impact in both years. Horses of Royal Dutch sport horse (KWPN) breed have reached the highest performance rating with 4.91 AAP, followed by the Zangersheide with 4.87 AAP and the Holsteiner with 4.76 AAP on the third place. Czech Warmblood has shown statistically lower performance than the Other sport breeds, the Hannoverian, the Holsteiner, KWPN, the Oldenburg and the Zangersheide, nevertheless, there is no statistic evidence of difference in performance ratings of the Czech Warmblood and Other German breeds, Bavarian Warmblood Horse or English Thoroughbred. In 2010, the performance ratings of the Czech Warmblood reached 3.29 with further increase to 3.68 in 2016. Therefore, it is possible to claim that average values of the performance of this particular breed have increased. Regarding the age, the youngest horses have shown statistically lower performance (3.4 AAP) than horses in the second and the third age group. The highest performance ratings in both years can be seen for horses aged 7-12 years, 3.98 AAP in average. Considering the factor of sex, stallions have shown the highest performance (4.28 AAP), followed by mares (3.74 AAP), and geldings (3.67 AAP).
