All producers of chips for energy are interested to know operational costs, energy requirements and possibilities for reaching maximum profit before and after the machine purchase. Manufacturers often indicate technical parameters and productivity of machines working under ideal operational conditions. However, the machines are operated under conditions that essentially influence their output, which results in changed production volumes and unit costs. The paper studies and valuates actual productivityand operational costs of slash bundler Timberjack (John Deere) Model 1490D. It compares a general calculation based on data from the machine manufacturer with actual costs of the machine operation. The costs are broken down into purchasing costs, operating costs and other costs. Total costs are subsequently converted to unit costs according to expected service life and mean actual productivity of the machine.
