Career choice represents an important phase in the life-long process of career development, as it directs an individual in a significant manner, affects the individual's close as well as more distant professional perspective and thus is one of the most important steps in a person's life. The school occupies a key role in preparing students for careers. The objective of the theoretically oriented report is to assess career readiness and risks of career choice on the part of pupils. This will be the basisfor a discussion of the concept of a longitudinal professional orientation program as a means of supporting the mental health of pupils.
