A novel Ion AMpliSeq-based typing method of Toxoplasma gondii reveals aN ExCELLENT typing resolution among European type II strains
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Toxoplasma gondii has a clonal population structure in Europe. The currently available typing method, based on 15 microsatellite regions, has a limited ability to discriminate between different type II strains. We therefore aimed to establish a next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based method with a higher typing resolution. Methods: T. gondii isolates were collected from different parts of Europe and assessed by whole genome sequencing (WGS). Highly polymorphic regions (HPRs) were identified. After confirmation by Sanger sequencing, 18 HPRs were used to design a primer panel suitable to establish an Ion AmpliSeq-based typing tool.
