Evaluation of toxicity of a rodenticidal product for non-target organisms
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Rodenticides are an important group of xenobiotics characterised by their specific effects to organisms. They make it possible to control rodents bearing infectious agents or causing economic loss. On the other hand they are an ecological factor of direct and indirect effect on non-target organisms including humans, agro-ecosystems and the environment as a whole. The common vole (Microtus arvalis) is a natural part of the fauna of the agricultural landscape. Episodes of its overcrowding result in higheconomic damage to agricultural plants. At present, there are several rodenticidal bait granules employing the same carrier but different toxic substances and colouring used to control the common vole in the Czech Republic. It was the aim of our study to evaluate the hazards of use of rodenticides for the pheasant. Tests on the attractiveness of variously dyed granules used as carriers of rodenticides (black, blue, red and green ones) showed that pheasants were the least willing to feed on
