Název v původním jazyce
The influence of propylparaben on vitellogenin production in juvenilie zebrafish (Danio rerio).
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Juvenile zebrafish (aged 20 days post hatching) were exposed for 20 days to three different batches of feed containing 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg of the commonly used preservative propylparaben (PP), respectively. After the exposure, the zebrafish were killed and the concentrations of the estrogen-dependent protein vitellogenin in their whole-body homogenates were measured by ELISA. The results obtained were compared with vitellogenin concentrations in control fish that received feed with no added propylparaben during the test and in fish from the positive control group receiving a diet containing 20 mg/kg natural estrogen, 17?-estradiol (E-2). The median vitellogenin concentrations in whole-body homogenates were 854 ng/ml (control group), 798, 829 and 810 ng/ml (fish exposed to 500; 1000 and 2000 mg/kg of PP respectively) and 1178 ?g/ml (fish exposed to E-2). Since the exposure to the diet containing PP did not elicit significant induction of vitellogenin synthesis compared to control i
