Aim of this work was to monitor the effect of AgNPs prepared by green synthesis (AgNPsGS) on the MCF-7 breast tumor cell line and the H1299 lung tumor cell line and to compare this effect with AgNPs prepared by chemical synthesis (AgNPsCHS).The AgNPsGS were at a concentration of 160 ?M Ag+ ions cytotoxic for the both MCF-7 and HCT 116 tumor cell lines and reduced the metabolic activity of the cells to 0-20%. At a concentration of 80 ?M of Ag+ ions, cellular metabolic activity decreased to 0-60%. In contrast, AgNPsCHS were effective up to a much higher concentration of Ag+ ions (16 mM) and exhibited a lower inhibitory effect on both the MCF-7 and HCT 116 cell lines than the green synthesis nanoparticles.
