The Role of Erros and Mistakes in the Profession of a Foreign Language Teacher

The correction of mistakes belongs certainly to skills that needs to be learned and practiced. There is no absolute error and mistake evaluation. All scales are relative and depend on pedagogical, psychological and learning conditions. Mostly, the error is evaluated as a deviation from the language standard, but there are also a number of other definitions. The decision as to which errors and mistakes and how and whether to correct at all depends on the teacher. It can happen that as a mistakes is marked what the teacher identifies as a mistake. This means that the correction of the text is a subjective matter on which many internal and external factors are affected (ie, the current disposition of the teacher/corrector, his experience, expertise, time and environmental pressure and, last but not least, the readability and organization of the text). Professional literature describes many experiments that deal with objectivity and reliability of correctors.
