Exploring the biomedical applications of Campsis radicans (woody vine): integrating traditional wisdom and contemporary insights
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The utilization of natural resources in traditional medicine has long served as a wellspring of inspiration for modern biomedical research. Campsis radicans (L.) Bureau, commonly known as trumpet creeper, occupies a significant place in traditional healing practices across various cultures. This review study, conducted in the early part of 2024, aims to synthesize traditional knowledge with contemporary scientific advancements to explore the biomedical potential of C. radicans. The relevant literary references were comprehensively reviewed and examined using various databases, including Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Data and information were synthesized from original research articles, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and pertinent animal studies. By drawing upon historical uses, phytochemical analysis, pharmacological investigations, and recent research findings, this article provides an overview of the therapeutic applications of C. radicans in wound healing, anti-inflammatory interventions, cancer management, and potential prospects in neurology and cardiology. Furthermore, it delves into the challenges and prospects associated with unlocking the full potential of this woody vine in biomedicine. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V. 2024.
