Viscometric Flow under Apparent Wall Slip in Parallel-Plate Geometry

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The slip boundary condition in current use assumes the viscometric shear surfaces at wall are locally coplanar with the wall surfaces, which is a correct assumption for Couette and Poiseuille flow but leads to contradictions for other viscometric configurations. This issue can be resolved by admitting a non-zero wall shear angle in the slip boundary condition. Numeri-cal simulations of the rotational flow in parallel-plate geometry with the modified slip bound-ary condition predict the both experimentally available quantities (torque, normal thrust) for a given set of relevant material functions (fluidity, slip extrapolation length, first and second normal-stress differences). Differences between the simulation results and the completed nar-row-gap approximation with the zero wall shear angles were however found negligibly small.
