Die Studie geht der Frage nach, inwieweit die „Königsaaler Chronik“ des Peters von Zittau als Inspirationsquelle für Machauts Bild Johanns von Luxemburg im Werk „Trost für einem Freund“ diente. Es wird die These aufgestellt, dass Machaut das Gedankengut der Zisterzienserchronik fortsetzte und an die Parameter der höfischen Poesie annäherte. Es wird auch vorgeschlagen, dass Machauts „Geschichte über den Löwen“ Machauts Lesen und Interpretation der Chronik darstellt und dass die Kapitel I/89 und II/6 als Inspirationsquellen für die literarischen Figuren der trauernden Dame und des betrogenen Ritters im „Urteil des Königs von Böhmen“ dienten.

The paper deals with the “Chronicle of Zbraslav” as a possible source of Machaut’s narratives written for and about John the Blind, especially the portrait of John in the “Confort d’Ami”. It argues that Machaut used the facts related to John and narrated by Peter of Zittau and interpreted them within the chivalric code. It also suggests that Machaut’s “Dit dou Lyon” represents an allegory of Machaut’s reading and intepretation of the chronicle and that the chapters I/89 and II/6 are the sources of the fictional characters of the mourning lady and the betrayed knight in the “Jugement dou roy de Behaingne”.
