Eine mittelalterliche jüdische Besiedlung ist in vielen europäischen Städten praktisch seit den historischen Anfängen dieser Städte nachweisbar. Das Zusammenleben der Juden mit der christlichen Mehrheitsgesellschaft durchlief einen langen Entwicklungsprozess. Auch nach der Definition der Rechte und Pflichten der Juden und der Zuweisung eines Raums für Leben und wirtschaftliche Aktivitäten spielte sich das Alltagsleben beider Seiten nicht nur nach diesen normativen Schablonen ab. Deshalb konzentriert sich der Workshop auf den Alltag der jüdischen Gemeinden in der mittelalterlichen Stadt (bis zum Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts), besonders im mitteleuropäischen Raum, und auf die Suche nach Analogien bzw. Unterschieden im Leben der jüdischen Gemeinden in Böhmenund Mähren und in den Nachbarländern.

The existence of medieval Jewish settlements is proved in many European towns since almost the beginnings of these towns themselves. The cohabitation of Jews with the majority Christian society underwent a long development. The everyday life of both parties did not always follow normative templates, which did not change when the Jews had been provided with limited rights and obligations and a similarly limited space for their living and economic activities. The workshop therefore pays particular attention to the everyday life of the Jewish community in a medieval town (before the end of 15th century), especially in the Central European space, and looks for similarities and differences between the life of the communities in Bohemia and Moravia on the one hand and those in the neighbouring countries on the other hand.
