Teil des Studiums von Migrationsprozessen, die in der Prager jüdischen Gemeinde am Übergang vom Mittelalter zur Neuzeit zu beobachten waren, sind auch Fragen, die das Zusammenleben der ankommenden Juden mit ihren Glaubensbrüdern in der Prager Gemeinde und den anderen christlichen Einwohnern der Stadt betreffen. In diesem Zusammenhang muss man sich klarmachen, dass auch die christliche Mehrheitsgesellschaft der Agglomeration Prag ab der Wende vom 15.zum 16. Jahrhundert eine allmähliche Entwicklung durchlief, die dann in den späteren Jahrzehnten in der rudolfinischen Zeit in einem starken Zuzug ihren Höhepunkt fand. Die Prager städtische Gesellschaft, in die die Juden ab der Wende vom 15. zum 16. Jahrhundert sowohl aus wirtschaftlichen und familiären als auch gezwungener Maßen (Vertreibung aus anderen böhmischen und mährischen Städten und aus dem Ausland) kamen, waren somit ganz sicher keine unveränderliche Gemeinschaft, im Gegenteil, es handelte sich um einen lebendigen Organismus, bei dem laufend neue Einwohner hinzukamen. Die Beziehung von Christen zu ihren jüdischen Nachbarn oszillierte in Prag zwischen Misstrauen und Verständnis. Viele Christen hatten für ihre jüdischen Bekannten nette Worte, gaben vor Gericht Zeugenaussagen zu ihren Gunsten ab, werteten unvoreingenommen Streitigkeiten, deren Zeugen sie wurden, quittierten anerkennend ihre Fachkenntnis, diskutierten mit ihren freundschaftlich oder arbeiteten langfristig mit ihnen zusammen. Dies bezog sich freilich insbesondere auch die Einwohner der Stadt, die mit den Juden aus irgendeinem Grund in Kontakt kamen. Aus der großen Anzahl der in den Quellen belegten Besuche von Christen in jüdischen Haushalten geht hervor, dass solche Begegnungen zum Alltagskolorit des städtischen Lebens im spätmittelalterlichen Prag gehörten. Der Artikel nennt konkrete Beispiele für diese Kontakte: offizielle Treffen, Treffen im öffentlichen Raum und Treffen in Privatwohnungen, sowohl christlich als auch jüdisch.

Part of the study of the migration processes that took place in the Prague Jewish community during the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern period also includes questions concerning the coexistence of the incoming Jews with their fellow Jews in the Prague community and other Christian inhabitants of the city. In this context, it should be remembered that the Christian, majority society of the Prague agglomeration also underwent a gradual development from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, culminating in the strong immigration in the Rudolphine period in later decades. The urban society of Prague, into which Jews arrived from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, both for economic and family reasons, but also for other forced reasons (expulsion from other Bohemian and Moravian towns and from abroad), was certainly not an unchanging community, but rather a living organism into which new inhabitants were continually arriving. The attitude of Christians towards their Jewish neighbours in Prague oscillated between distrust and understanding. Many of the Christians had kind words for their Jewish acquaintances, testified in their favour in court, evaluated disputes they had witnessed dispassionately, acknowledged their expertise, talked to them in a friendly manner or cooperated with them for a long time. This, of course, applied especially to the inhabitants of the town who came into contact with Jews for some reason. The large number of visits of Christians to Jewish households documented in the sources shows that such meetings were part of the everyday colour of urban life in late medieval Prague. The article gives specific examples of such contacts: official meetings, meetings in public spaces and meetings in private homes of both Christians and Jews.
