The article discuss the old Czech poem about the death of king John and his noble knights in the battle of Crécy. (1346). The poem customarily referred to by historians as The Poem on the Battle of Crécy, which was written by an unknown author, is a remarkable testimony of historical memory linked to the Battle of Crécy that took place in Bohemia during the Middle Ages. Its main theme is the loyalty of Bohemian Knights to King John mere moments before the battle. That is why several literary critics quite fittingly refer to the poem using the title The Death of King John. The article contents the edition of the poem in old Czech and the translation in modern English.
