Care ethics and public administration. An overview of the field and a look forward
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In this chapter, I provide an overview of the formation of the idea of a care-centred public administration8 in care ethics literature. I also zoom in on three new areas in which the research on care-centred public administration entered only recently and which open possibilities for further investigation. The chapter is divided into three sections. In the first section, I reconstruct the birth and formation of the idea of care-centred public administration in the works of DeLysa Burnier, Helena Stensöta and Sophie Bourgault. The second section discusses different views of the relationship between care and justice perspectives in public administration, and particularly explores the role of these different perspectives in everyday practice of public administrators. In the third section, I take a closer look at some current debates that apply a care ethics perspective to three newly established areas of public administration: a) crisis management, b) governance for environmental sustainability and c) digitalizing public administration.
