The article represents the proceedings of a conference Orientalia Antiqua Nova XIX held at University of West-Bohemia in Pilsen in 2019. The article is focused on III millennium Mesopotamia and gives a general overview of the different systems of taxation through which the central administration managed the different kind of resources (especially barley and livestock) that were needed in order to maintain the good efficiency of the State
