Granice zasięgu gwar białoruskich w świetle badań lingwistów. Część III: pogranicze białorusko-litewskie

W artykule przedstawiony został areał funkcjonowania gwar białoruskich na pograniczu białorusko-litewskim w świetle badań lingwistów. Przeanalizowano wybrane publikacje od połowy XIX w., teksty z okresu międzywojennego, lat powojennych czasów ZSRR, a także opublikowane w ostatnim czasie po rozpadzie Związku Radzieckiego. Omówiono publikacje białoruskich, litewskich i polskich badaczy. Podejście do zagadnienia zasięgu granic występowania gwar zmieniało się w zależności od czasu powstania publikacji, przyjętych metodologii, rozumienia terminów (np. gwary przejściowe vs gwary mieszane), rozwoju geografii lingwistycznej, procesów rusyfikacyjnych oraz czynników polityczno-ideologicznych. Zagadnienie zasięgu gwar białoruskich na pograniczu białorusko-litewskim, choć doczekało się opisów, do tej pory nie było obiektem szczegółowej analizy. Nowym elementem jest krytyczne podejście do niektórych dawniejszych prac naukowych, które nierzadko prowadzone były pod wpływem nacisków polityczno-ideologicznych, oraz zaprezentowanie najnowszych badań autora.

The Limits of the Range of Belarusian Dialects in Linguistic Research. Part III: The Belarusian-Lithuanian Borderland

This article discusses the range of occurrence of Belarusian sub-dialects in the Belarusian-Lithuanian borderlands as presented in existing linguistic research. It analyzes selected publications covering the period from the mid-nineteenth century, the beginning of the twentieth century, the postwar Soviet period and the contemporary period, focusing on publications by Belarusian, Lithuanian and Polish scholars. The article finds that approaches to the linguistic borderlands have evolved over time, depending on the research methods used and the understanding of the terms “transitional/mixed dialect”, the development of linguistic geography, the progressing process of Russification and political/ideological factors. In the case of Belarusian dialects in Lithuania, there are two levels of analysis: first, the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, and second, Belarusian-Polish bilingualism. The issue of range limits of Belarusian dialects on the Belarusian-Lithuanian-Polish border has not yet been the subject of detailed analysis. This article also analyzes the range of the contemporary period (based on the author’s own field research from 2009–2025). The article introduces a critical approach to earlier studies on this topic, which were often conducted under the influence of political and ideological pressures.
