Strategy of Research into Social, Societal and Governance Issues Linked to the Nuclear Energy: the Czech Republic

This document presents strategy for developing the research into social, societal and governance issues linked to the nuclear energy in the Czech Republic. It is intended for various kinds of readers interested in the topic. It enables Czech and foreign representatives of administrative bodies, public institutions and businesses to familiarize with the relationship between nuclear energy and society in the specific context of the Czech Republic. But it also offers an overview to researchers about the state of the art of the national social research agenda in the given area. The first substantive part of the document describes national situation in nuclear energy with regard to technologies currently in operation and with regard to state nuclear energy policy including nuclear waste managements. It also pays attention to the public perception of nuclear energy issues and provides a list of relevant nongovernmental organizations and local civic initiatives. The second substantive part of the document explores available funding programmes, identifies 7 principle areas of social research and summarizes our knowledge about existing research activities. In its end, the strategy draws conclusions from the analysis and proposes means and measures for introducing the strategy into practise
