ECAS (European Conference on African Studies) is the biggest, most relevant and prestigious conference on African studies in Europe and Africa. For the first time it took place in Czechia as one of the CEE countries. The main theme was African, Afro-European and Afropolitan identities and belongings. The number of participants was 1,500, out of which more than 1,300 were foreigners. ECAS hosted four keynotes from the most important European and African tertiary institutions. The main organizer was the Czech Association of African Studies (CAAS), under the auspices of AEGIS (Africa-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies), of which CAAS is member.
