Der Gegenstand der Studie ist die ausführliche Analyse der Škréta´s Biographie, die von Joachim von Sandrart in Teutsche Academie in 1675 publiziert worden ist. Dieser Text lieferte nicht nur die erste Zusammenfassung des Lebens und Werks des Malers, sondern auch diente als Ausgangpunkt zum kunsthistorischen Bewertung des Malers als Gründer des Barockmalerei in Böhmen.

The subject of the study is a detailed analysis of Škréta´s biography published by Joachim von Sandrart in the Teutsche Academie in 1675, one year after the artist´s death. This text not only provided the first comprehensive reflection on the painter´s life and work, but also constituted the art-historical evaluation of Škréta as the founder of Baroque painting in Bohemia.
