Composite Hydrogel Scaffolds for the Regeneration of Osteochondral Defects
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Even in 1982, Benya and Shaffer reported re-expression of chondrogenic phenotype of dedifferentiated chondrocytes after their embedding intro three-dimensional agarose hydrogel. From that time many different hydrogel scaffolds were studied in vitro and in vivo. Hydrogels provide a proper environment for cell growth and differentiation . However, they have several limitations, e.g. low mechanical properties or fast degradation, which leads to development of synthetic hydrogels and/or composite scaffolds. Composite scaffolds can be prepared as blend hydrogels, but often hydrogel form a separate chondral part of multi-layered scaffolds.
