Nach der ideologischen Entleerung des Ostblocks und der ideologischen Pluralisierung des Westens wandte sich die Literatur im ausgehenden 20. und beginnenden 21. Jahrhundert der Frage nach Wahrnehmungs- und Erkenntnismöglichkeiten des eigenen Symbolsystem Literatur und der Verantwortung dafür zu. Einer der möglichen Wege war die weltanschauliche Vielfalt und Gleich-Gültigkeit von Denkfiguren der Postmoderne: Das Ende der großen vereinheitlichenden ideologischen Geschichten und ihr Zerfall in eine Vielzahl kleiner Erzählungen ist wahrscheinlich das bekannteste postmoderne Postulat. So wird die Reflexion partikularer und marginaler Traditionen und Identitäten zur ästhetischen Praxis in ukrainischen und tschechischen Prosatexten und spiegelt in der Rückschau die aktuelle kulturelle Gemengelage und Erinnerungskultur.

After the ideological emptying of the Eastern bloc and the ideological pluralism of the West, the literature in the late 20th and early 21st century turns to the question of perception and knowledge capabilities of its own symbolic system of literature and its responsibility to it. One of the postmodern postulates was the ideological diversity and equal validity of postmodern ideas: the end of the "big narratives" and their breaking to many short stories. Thus, the reflection of particular and marginaltraditions and identities projects to the aesthetics of Ukrainian and Czech prose and reflects, in retrospect, the actual state of cultural memory.
