Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit der Bedeutung der Überreste der ehemaligen deutschen Orte in Tschechien in der zeitgenössischen tschechischen Populärkultur. Es wird zuerst das steigende Interesse an den Ruinen sowie die Verwandlung ihrer Semantik in der Erinnerungskultur skizziert. Daraufhin wird die Problematik der Ruinen als Erinnerungsorte aus einer theoretischen Perspektive erfasst und im Kontext der ästhetischen Theorie der Ruine gedeutet. Schließlich konzentriert sich der Aufsatz auf die Krimiserie Vzteklina (Tollwut), an deren Beispiel die Funktion der Ruinen in den gegenwärtigen Repräsentationen der Vertreibung veranschaulicht wird. Das Ziel des Aufsatzes ist, die Ambivalenzen im Prozess des kollektiven Erinnerns und Vergessens aufzuzeigen.

The article deals with the significance of the remains of former German towns in the Czech Republic in contemporary Czech popular culture. It outlines the growing interest in ruins as well as the transformation of their semantics in the culture of remembrance. The issue of ruins as places of memory is grasped from a theoretical perspective and interpreted in the context of the aesthetics 262 Aussiger Beiträge 12 (2018) of the ruin. Finally, the essay focuses on the detective series Vzteklina (rabies), an example that illustrates the function of ruins in contemporary representations of eviction. The aim of the essay is to point out the ambivalence in the process of collective rememberance and forgetting.
