Situated. From immersive styles to moments in our lives
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This talk looks back at ten years of my work on situated cognition in literary reading. Opening with an empirical example of socially shared text experience, I explain how my situated research perspective has evolved in terms of main object of study and research method. Three partially overlapping phases emerge wherein the focus has shifted from 1) immersive text structure to 2) the places where we read, and finally to 3) the place of text experience in our social-affective lives. These shifts in object of study have brought about corresponding shifts in empirical method, which has grown more situated with every phase: from i) lab-based psychological experiments to ii) social science methods (quantitative surveys, focus groups), and finally to 3) ethnographic observation.
