Das Thema des Beitrages ist eine etymologische Analyse des tschechischen Terminus vích(a) mit der Bedeutung ”Strohwisch / Astbündel / Strohkranz (auf einer Stange) / Kranz aus Rebenlaub u.ä., der traditionell vor dem Weinkeller als Zeichen des Weinausschankes ausgehängt wird”. Das Wort, dessen Wurzeln bereits in alttschechischen Texten zu finden sind, wird heutzutage in der tschechischen Terminologie aus dem Bereich des Weinrechtes in dem Syntagma ”(prodej) pod víchem/víchou” revitalisiert. Der tschechische Ausdruck vích(a) wird von der urslawischen Form *věcha/*věch7 abgeleitet, die in anderen slawischen Sprachen mit der Bedeutung ”archaisches Rechtszeichen” belegt ist. Die Entwicklung des tschechischen Terminus ist im arealen Kontext erforscht und wird mit der Entwicklung in benachbarten Sprachen verglichen: z.B. slowakisch viecha, deutsch Busch(en), Strauß, Besen, ungarisch céger oder italienisch frasca, von welchem das slowenische fresca stammt, usw.

On the origins of the Czech wine term vích(a) in an areal context

The article focuses on an etymological analysis of the Czech term vích(a) with the meaning ”sheaf of straw/small (pine) branches etc., traditionally hanged out in front of wine cellars, which denotes the first hand sale of wine, direct from the winemaker”. We can find this term already in Old Czech texts and nowadays, it is revitalized in the sphere of the wine bar law in the syntagma ”(prodej) pod víchem/víchou”. The Czech word vích(a) is derived from the Proto-Slavic *věcha/*věch7, documented in other Slavic languages with the meaning ”an archaic law sign”. The development of the Czech wine term is analysed in areal context and it is compared with the development in the neighbouring languages: cf. for example the Slovak viecha, German Busch(en), Strauß, Besen, Hungarian céger or Italian frasca, from which is the Slovenian fresca etc.
