The article describes a series of laboratory measurements where different geosynthetic materials (woven geotextile, unwoven geotextile, geogrid, geocomposite) were inserted into model track bed constructions at different height levels. Models in a 1:1 scale with dimensions of 2x1x0.8 m were exposed to short-term consolidation loading corresponding to the axle load of 22.5 t. The settlement of the simulated subgrade, the structural layer and the sleeper were monitored while the rail was loaded. The load-bearing capacity of the surface of layers was determined by the static load test under DIN 18 134 and the impact load test using a light dynamic plate. In all, eight different model constructions were monitored, including a construction without any reinforcement. The article includes the results of measurements and a mutual comparison of individual model constructions.
