There are many reasons why to consider wellness facilities in a broader context and they are important for all population groups. The paper reflects on the current situation in the Czech Republic, mapping what works and what could be improved and what organisations participate in the system. At the same time, it raises several question marks regarding the mapping of wellness facilities in the territory and the outputs from these databases as a possible basis for urban planning to promote the preventive character of human health. The Czech legislation is not helpful in this area, and therefore it is necessary to look for inspiring approaches abroad, where projects aimed at mapping sports facilities in the context of sustainable planning are already in process.
