Insight In The Energy Performance Of Buildings In The Danube Region Countries

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The European Union's climate and energy policy has set a number of targets, among which increasing energy efficiency, i.e. reducing energy consumption, plays one of the key roles. Buildings play an important role in this respect as they account for 40% of the Union's total energy consumption. Their energy renovation is therefore an important step towards achieving the set goals. The fulfilment of the set goals is addressed on many levels and by many initiatives, one of them is the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme. The aim of this article is to present results of the study on the energy performance of buildings in Danube region countries, which focused on the assessment and comparison of the current state of energy performance of building stock and national building renovation strategies. Selected topics related to the energy performance of buildings in the countries of the Danube Region were assessed based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis and synthesis of available statistical data, strategic plans, and other relevant information. The results show, that in all Danube Region countries, the residential building stock grows steadily and the energy performance of buildings also improves. Building renovation plans for coming years are drawn up in line with the requirements of European directives, but are often not ambitious enough. In some cases, the implementation of the proposed measures is not clear and some topics are addressed only in general or not at all. It can be concluded, that it is needed to improve the data collection systems and collect and report the building stock data in much greater detail to facilitate following analysis, comparisons and planning. Detailed and high-quality processing of legislative documents and their compliance with the EU is also important as it can ensure better implementation and increases the chance of meeting the set goals.
