In-situ measurement of dynamics of pump-pipeline system transporting sewage sludge. Part I. Operating points of the pump-pipeline system.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In-situ measurements were conducted on a pump-pipeline system at a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to gather data for determining the effect of pumped sewage sludge properties on the performance characteristics of both the centrifugal pump and the pipeline in the transport system. The data and subsequent analysis provide valuable insights into the dynamics of the transport system and its response to the variable rheology of the pumped sludge. The results illustrate the behaviour of a real-world system and offer useful information for the effective design and efficient operation of WWTP transport systems. The transported sewage sludge exhibited non-Newtonian behaviour, characterised by the Herschel-Bulkley rheological model. During the measurement period, the rheological parameters varied in conjunction with sludge density and total solids concentration by mass. The concentration ranged from 3% to 7%TS, significantly affecting the rheological properties of the sludge and, consequently, the performance of both the pump and the pipeline. This work quantifies the effects of variable sludge properties on the operating conditions of the system.
