Wear Mechanism of Duplex-Coated P/M Vanadis 6 Ledeburitic Steel
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The wear mechanism of duplex-coated P/M made Vanadis 6 ledeburitic steel was investigated. Duplex layering by plasma nitriding and PVD CrN-coating increases the wear resistance substantially but it was found that the dispersion of results was too large. The samples differ one from each other in the adhesion of PVD-overlay on nitrided substrate which results in a very different wear resistance and wear mechanism also. The specimens with good adhesion show the critical load needed for the coating delamination of more than 130 N, wear of specimens was slow, wear of the counterparts very rapid and the PVD-layer remained on the surface in less or more undamaged form. If the adhesion of the coating was worse, the wear rate of the specimen increased rapidly and the worn surface showed the symptoms of massive cracking and total collapse of the coating, accompanying with sudden decrease of the friction coefficient and slowing down of the wear rate of the counterparts.
