STENOSIS CONSIDERED BY THE FLUID DYNAMICS
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Stenosis is the most frequent complication of vascular access. It leads to increased risk of access thrombosis. The estimation of stenosis "hemodynamic" significance depends on the applied method that includes access flow monitoring, duplex Doppler ultrasonography and angiography ? especially the latter can describe only morphological changes. However, the changes are more complex and can be described in the best way by the fluid dynamics. The hemodynamic properties of stenosis are defined with common fluid dynamics equations, the Bernoulli?s equations and conservation laws. The dependency between streamline patterns and local pressure drop is shown for sudden contraction. Sudden contraction of flow cross-section forms a recirculation zone in peripheral area. This zone is driven by the high velocity jet formed in the valve. The local pressure loss increases with the size of the recirculation zone. The flow through stenosis was visualized and the effect of the stenosis geometry on the f
