Two temperature measurement methods were used and compared for FCAW welding of structural steel. The contact measurement from 2 thermocouples was primarily used to enable precise set up of the infrared camera Flir. After set up, the infrared measurement enables easy temperature measurement of many points in large area simultaneously. With calibration done the infrared measurement can be used to evaluate thermal fields for arc welding of structural steel.
