Measurement of the heat transfer between a casting and a metal die has been the subject of much research work in the past. However, most of the work has been aimed at measurement of the heat transfer coefficient, rather than understanding the interfacial heat transfer mechanisms. An experiment that explored the properties of spraying was carried out by BENEŠ a LÁT a.s. In designing the experiment, the emphasis was put on the conditions under which the spraying (or combinations thereof) was investigated were as closely as possible to the actual production process. The main objective of this experiment was to determine the heat transfer value and its application in the simulation software MAGMA5. In the overall evaluation of the simulation results were compared with the actual castings. The main criterion for the comparison of the results was an intrinsic quality of the casting.
