This article is brief information about perspectives and futurity of the STEP standard in the world and in the Czech Republic specially. At present time it is not possible to ignore an important role of international standards in electronic product industry. One of the most important standards in this area is an international ISO 10303 standard also known as a STEP. The term STEP is a short cut for Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data. The STEP is a very large and powerful standard which is used in the product&#8217;s entire life cycle. In our article we briefly describe a present status of usage of the STEP standard in world and Czech Republic specially. The last part of our contribution we pay attention to present time problems and trendsin the STEP evolution.
