Sequence of Events (SOE) is an important mechanism that ensures that events occurring at different places in the plant are timestamped and sent to a central archive that can sort them in temporal order. Such ability is necessary for determining causal order of the events to be able to search for causality relations among them. The Guideline provides a wider look at the Sequence of Events at the level of the plant and gives a few use cases how the Reporting System, which is defined in the PROFINET standard, is used.
