Programmable Partial Discharge Calibrator Based on Current Source

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

Standard partial discharge calibrators generate pulses with defined charge values by deriving a rectangular voltage pulse through a series-connected capacitor with a low capacitance value. The output pulse of the calibrator then has a double exponential waveform with different rise and tail times. However, the resulting charge value is affected by the parasitic capacitance of the circuit and the capacitance of the objects or samples being measured. Many of these parasitic effects cannot be determined, causing variations between the set and injected charges. Calibration is limited for this reason and generally only limited inference can be made on the actual charge values. Solution based on the generation of a partial discharge pulse by a current source instead of generating the pulse by deriving a voltage step is presented. This solution brings undeniable advantages with respect to the classical solution, but on the other hand requires higher demands for the technical design.
