L?intermodalité constitue l?un des piliers de la mobilité durable de voyageurs. En m?me temps, la (re)construction de la ville au travers de l?organisation des déplacements est aujourd?hui au coeur des débats sur l?aménagement du territoire. Véritable outil de l?intermodalité, le pôle d?échanges (PE), en tant que lieu o? la fonction transport croise la fonction urbaine, est un point essentiel de rabattement de personnes vers le transport en commun. Pour qu?il soit attractif, le PE doit assurer trois fonctions : transport, services et intégration urbaine. Le coeur du travail consiste en une analyse de la derni?re de ces fonctions, en pratique souvent oubliée, alors m?me que sa contribution ? façonner la ville est primordiale. Intermodality in transportation constitutes one of the basic elements of a person?s sustainable mobility. At the same time, urban development by taking into account the organisation of an individual?s journeys is nowadays at the centre of debates on landuse planning. The interchange station has become a veritable tool of intermodality; as a place where the transport function meets the urban function, it presents an essential element of person?s access to public transportation. In order to be attractive, the interchange station has to assure three functions: transport, services and urban integration. The core of the present work is an analysis of the last of these functions, which is often forgotten in practice, even though its contribution to urban design is paramount.
