Název v původním jazyce
Stimulation and detection of mesenchymal stem cells osteogenic differentiation
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Loss or injuries of tissue or organ are currently a major issue. Tissue engineering is a relatively new multidisciplinary field that aims to replace tissues using biocompatible materials, cells and stimulating factors, or a combination thereof. Mesenchymal stem cells give rise to the field of regenerative medicine as they are able to differentiate into various cell types after appropriate stimulation. Crucial step in the regeneration of bone is selection of an appropriate scaffold material. It should be biocompatible with an adequate speed of degradation to provide mechanical support for the cells and facilitate synthesis of new bone tissue. Moreover, it should have suitable porosity and large interconnected pores to allow cell migration. Enrichment of such scaffold with bioactive substances would lead to differentiation of MSC. The aim of this project is to select an appropriate combination of chemical and mechanical stimuli to promote osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.
