With a population of ten million the Czech Republic is one of the smaller states of the European Union. Thanks to the superb coverage of the territory by the groups of emergency medical services it has nearly one million responses per year. Such a systemputs considerable demands on both the equipment and facilities, as well as on the number of professionals working in prehospital emergency care. This article discusses the primary education of professionals working in prehospital emergency care and thepossible implementation of components from abroad. The Czech Republic has a very sophisticated system of primary education in this area, even though it is possible to implant some aspects from abroad into our system.
